Story

Cornaro Art Centre has been hosting Life Drawing sessions since its inception forming a tight community of enthusiastic creative individuals from all over Europe, both professional artists and amateurs. Drawing from life is an essential element of any artist’s learning and practice, but at Cornaro Art Centre we always try to push it further, to see beyond the figure and interpret it in a unique artistic way.

We take risks, we make mistakes, and thus we learn, discover, and grow.

• Quick poses, as short as 30 sec, sharpen the skill to see everything at once and notice the important, the most expressive – a beautiful curve, an interesting combination of lines and shapes, a gesture of a pose.

• Longer 30-min poses give the opportunity to explore the subject – the human figure – in depth and ‘build’ the drawing through experimental mark-making.

• At the end of each session, the artists put up they drawings and, if they feel like it, share their thoughts and impressions with the group.

• Before the summer break, the Life Drawing group holds an exhibition at Cornaro Art Centre displaying the artists’ work for the year.
